{ out + about } Flower Crown Workshop at Anthropologie

Yesterday I took part in a flower crown & styling class at Anthropologie, taught by Halle of Flower and Fringe and hosted by Drea of the pretty well known blog Oh Dear Drea. I was so excited when I saw this class posted on Drea's blog, since I've been wanting to learn to make flower crowns for some upcoming photoshoots and possibly my bridal shower. This is my first time meeting a (big) blogger, and though I was little nervous, I was more excited to take part and meet creatives in the area. And the class was so much fun! We each got a vase of beautiful daisies to use for the main part of the crown, plus a selection of other pretty flowers and greens for fillers and accents. 

Even the mess we made after was photo worthy! Halle and Drea were awesome teachers and hosts, and so friendly and sweet. So were the other girls I met at the event. All our crowns turned out so pretty and each one so unique!

{ out + about } Wynwood

This weekend we headed to Miami for Art Basel, one of the biggest events of the year in South Florida. We started in Wynwood, early so we could see the street art before the sun set. There were lots of art murals throughout the neighborhood and we caught some of the artists in action. Amazing what they can do with a simple tools like a can of paint!

I wore a light floral skort to stay cool. 

It was so warm out, it's hard to believe we're in December! 

 There were a lot of lounges and biergartens to stop for a refresher and cool down. 

Art, music, culture and food everywhere!

After perusing the street art and local galleries, we headed to the tents that
showcased the formal galleries with art from all over the world. 

We discovered so many amazing artists that are inspiring our next collection!

art basel weekend

It's Art Basel week here in South Florida, and after a busy couple of weeks working hard to launch the shop, we will be taking a break and heading down to Miami for some inspiration and fun! Each year the events get bigger and better, with more galleries to explore, shows to attend, music to enjoy and art to admire. We look forward to gallery hopping with friends and viewing the local artist installations for inspiration.

{ weekend bits }

This weekend was full of good food and exploring. 

Katty headed south to the South Beach Food & Wine Festival. 

It was beach time and bike rides with good friends.

I headed north to explore Delray Beach with the boy.

We found a great place with a happy hour half off menu.

The food was incredible! Its a spot we'd definitely plan to hit again. 

Then we went off to hear some good tunes by this band. 

All in all, a relaxing weekend.

This weekend we had friends in town from NY,

and although it was cooler than its been the past few weeks,

it was still a gorgeous day to be out on the water.

So we went paddleboarding with the guys at Sunrise Paddleboards

and spent the day cruising the Ft Lauderdale waterways.

Sis and I also took some pictures for the website,

which will

be ready soon!

{ weekend bits }

This weekend we headed to Revel on the Block,

an event hosted by a few groups in an artistic neighborhood near downtown.

It stemmed off of Better Block which you can read more about here,

a concept we believe our city (and many across the country) really needs.

So we showed our support, participated and met some cool people,

saw great art, ate yummy food, shopped the small local pop up shops,

and listened to some good live tunes.

Its great to meet likeminded people

and spread the word about xiokat!
