{ weekend bits }

This weekend we headed to Revel on the Block,

an event hosted by a few groups in an artistic neighborhood near downtown.

It stemmed off of Better Block which you can read more about here,

a concept we believe our city (and many across the country) really needs.

So we showed our support, participated and met some cool people,

saw great art, ate yummy food, shopped the small local pop up shops,

and listened to some good live tunes.

Its great to meet likeminded people

and spread the word about xiokat!

 

art + music + fashion night

This past weekend I participated in a night of art + music + fashion at IWAN's The Bubble. Same concept as last year - recycled fashion. I had a lot of fun reinventing pieces I thrifted. I shared the stage with my friend Maria Rivas. Even though we got rained on, it was a fun night!

{ indie bazaar july }

Sorry we've been m.i.a.
After my move to Phoenix, sis and I are trying to adjust to running the business from different cities. Definitely a challenge when it comes to certain things, but thanks to technology - its definitely possible! So as we get used to this and our new jobs and lives - we have decided to skip the summer collection and start working on a fall/winter line.
We still have some items left from the spring collection and katty will be at the next Indie Bazaar so come by and say hello!

Sorry it's been quiet around here. I realize its been a month since we've posted. Yikes! :)

We have been busy preparing and working on the "business" part of, well, our business! 

Creating the shop, designing labels for the merchandise, ordering them along with business cards, all that fun stuff, in preparation for the next indie craft show. (No details on the date yet, but we'll post as soon as we know.) Hopefully, we will have the shop fully stocked by then but in the meantime check it out here!

About two weeks ago we participated in another show, this time a music festival in Delray Beach. It was a beautiful day out and we were joined by many local vendors and craft artists. xio*kat shared a booth with Ale of Tequila Gorilla (second to last photo) and Maria of Maria Rivas designs (last photo). Although we had a good response and got lots of compliments for our work, we did not get the sales we got in our first show. We realize why now and took it all as a good learning experience. But we still had fun at the show, heard live music, met some really great local artists and made new friends. We also ate some of the most delicious cupcakes, courtesy of Cupcake Couture Sweet Boutique - a fellow vendor at the show.
