Finally sharing a few pictures of our July trip to New York City. It had been way too long since our last visit - almost 2 years! Katty was attending the Premiere textile show in the city and we decided to make a weekend trip of it to scout some fabrics for xiokat. Not to mention all the inspiration the city gives us!

We stayed with a friend on the Upper East Side, went to the Met for the Punk and Chaos exhibit, fabric shopped and then met up with our friends, who were also in town, at the High Line. That day was probably one of the hottest of the summer and we sure felt it as we walked all over the city, but it was worth it. We went for dinner that night then drinks around town. Sunday we headed to the Brooklyn flea market and the Artists and Fleas. We met a lot of talented artists and designers and picked up a few goods to bring home. We sat near the water and enjoyed a couple of beers with friends. I left the next day after exploring the city solo while my sister stayed for the show. All in all a short but relaxing and productive trip. We can't wait to come back!

puerto rico

This past weekend I went away to the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. It wasn't a planned trip but those are the best kind! I had so much fun! I've gone to Puerto Rico many times but there is always something new to see and spots to explore.

{ weekend bits }

This weekend was nonstop!

We spent Saturday organizing our studio so we could 

shoot some photos for the site. 

Later that night we went to see The Wedding Singer,

produced by a local theatre.

Our friend plays in the band and this time was actually on stage as part of the wedding band. 

The show was great! We laughed and cried.

Sunday, our friends hosted a tea + pool  party to share the launch of their

brand, Malu Designs. We are so happy for them and their new venture.

It's a short work week for us (we both got Friday off - Woohoo!).

Looking forward to the extended weekend so we can continue

to enjoy this beautiful sun. Hope you are enjoying it as well!

My trip to Guanajuato came and went, but I had an amazing time exploring this cute little town!

How had I not heard about this city, about an hour away from the more popular San Miguel de Allende. 

I will be sharing more on my blog - simply nomad - so stop to read more about this great trip!

{ weekend bits }

Weekend explorations :

1/ explored a nice trail near the new house

2/ stopped by here for lunch but was distracted by desserts

3 + 4/ sat night spent with paints and wine and dear friends

5/ a candid shot of our mami and papi 

6/ our dad, skateboarding for the first time and loving it! he's got skills!

We celebrated Fathers Day with a few long time family friends.

We are so grateful for our dad, for all his love, faith and encouragement,

especially in our dreams for xiokat.

We love him very much!

This weekend was full of good food and exploring. 

Katty headed south to the South Beach Food & Wine Festival. 

It was beach time and bike rides with good friends.

I headed north to explore Delray Beach with the boy.

We found a great place with a happy hour half off menu.

The food was incredible! Its a spot we'd definitely plan to hit again. 

Then we went off to hear some good tunes by this band. 

All in all, a relaxing weekend.

This weekend we had friends in town from NY,

and although it was cooler than its been the past few weeks,

it was still a gorgeous day to be out on the water.

So we went paddleboarding with the guys at Sunrise Paddleboards

and spent the day cruising the Ft Lauderdale waterways.

Sis and I also took some pictures for the website,

which will

be ready soon!

This weekend we headed to Revel on the Block,

an event hosted by a few groups in an artistic neighborhood near downtown.

It stemmed off of Better Block which you can read more about here,

a concept we believe our city (and many across the country) really needs.

So we showed our support, participated and met some cool people,

saw great art, ate yummy food, shopped the small local pop up shops,

and listened to some good live tunes.

Its great to meet likeminded people

and spread the word about xiokat!

It was a very hot weekend and we took advantage of the beautiful days
by taking a ride along the beach,
then stopping for margaritas at a restaurant on the pier.

We went to our local craft store and they were having a major 

clearance sale since they are moving to a bigger location. 

We got all this yarn for under $2 each!
